HAPPI Chat: Meet Dianne Hartwig, Nurse Practitioner at HAPPI Health
At HAPPI Health, our providers bring their own experiences, passions, and connections to the communities they serve. For Nurse Practitioner Dianne Hartwig, that connection starts right here at home.
A Huntsville native who now lives in Madison, Dianne has deep roots in North Alabama. Her interest in healthcare began at an early age, inspired by her mother, who worked as a scientist and medical technologist in a blood bank and medical laboratory.
“I was always fascinated with that,” Dianne shared. “I wanted to be just like her.”
While she loved the science behind medicine, Dianne knew she wanted a career that would allow her to work directly with people. That desire ultimately led her to nursing.
Finding Her Place in Healthcare
Dianne chose nursing because it gave her the opportunity to help people while taking a more holistic approach to healthcare.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) before continuing her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she earned her master’s degree in nursing.
Her education prepared her to care for patients, but her lifelong connection to the Huntsville area has also shaped the way she approaches her work.
Having grown up in the community she now serves gives Dianne a unique understanding of her patients and their experiences.
“I have a lot of history. I know a lot of people,” she said. “So that really helps me to kind of understand where the patients are coming from.”
Finding a Family at HAPPI Health
For Dianne, one of the best parts of working at HAPPI Health is the people beside her.
“The people that work here are really the best part,” she said. “We have the best team ever. There’s nobody I’d rather do this with every day than these people right here at HAPPI.”
Working across HAPPI Health’s clinics also gives Dianne the opportunity to experience different communities, patients, and teams.
“Each clinic has its own little culture and patients that come there, and I’m just really blessed to be a small part of each clinic,” she said.
That variety is part of what keeps her work rewarding. Every day brings something new and another opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients throughout the community.
